Summary

This 2022 Super Safari is a rare find in the current GCC market, combining very low mileage with the most iconic off-road platform in the region. Finished in a distinctive gold that holds its value well among local collectors and desert enthusiasts, this vehicle represents the perfect balance between a modern daily driver and a legendary mechanical powerhouse. While many SUVs have moved toward complex electronics, the Super Safari retains the over-engineered 4.8L inline-six engine that is celebrated across the UAE and Saudi Arabia for its bulletproof reliability. Having covered significantly fewer kilometers than the average 2022 model, this car offers the tactile mechanical feel that purists crave alongside essential modern comforts. For a buyer looking for a vehicle that can navigate the city's fast-moving highways during the week and conquer the Liwa dunes on the weekend, this specific listing is an unbeatable choice. The single most important factor for any GCC buyer is the car’s ability to withstand extreme summer heat while maintaining its market value, and no other vehicle in this segment does that better than a GCC-spec Super Safari.

This Car vs Other 2022 Patrols

While a typical 2022 SUV in the Emirates usually registers between 45,000 and 50,000 kilometers, this specific Super Safari is significantly under that benchmark at just 38,000 kilometers. This low usage means the mechanical components, particularly the specialized suspension and high-torque engine, have seen much less stress than most examples on the market. The gold exterior is a heritage-inspired choice that resonates deeply with the local culture, often leading to faster resale times compared to more common white or silver units. Because it has been driven sparingly, the interior leather and trim remain in near-showroom condition, free from the typical wear patterns seen in high-mileage desert vehicles. Choosing a low-mileage 2022 model ensures that you are getting the closest experience possible to a new vehicle while bypassing the initial depreciation curve. This is an ideal investment for someone who values mechanical longevity and a clean ownership history in a region where cars are often driven hard.

SUPER SAFARI vs Lower Trims

Stepping into the Super Safari trim elevates the experience from a standard utility vehicle to a cultural icon equipped with premium functional luxuries. Unlike the base Safari trims, this version includes the tan leather interior and power-adjustable seats that provide much-needed support during long cross-border drives. You also benefit from the distinctive external aesthetics, including the wide fender flares and the iconic graphic decals that signal this is the top-tier 4.8L variant. Functional upgrades include a built-in electric winch and a rear-mounted spare tire that are not just cosmetic but essential for self-recovery in off-road scenarios. The Super Safari also features wood-grain trim and a more sophisticated climate control system designed to circulate air more effectively through the large cabin. For the GCC buyer, these additions represent the difference between a work truck and a lifestyle vehicle that is respected in every majlis and desert camp.

Patrol vs Segment Rivals

The Super Safari exists in a unique sub-segment, often cross-shopped with the Toyota Land Cruiser 70-series and the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. While the Land Cruiser 70-series offers similar ruggedness, the Patrol leads significantly in cabin comfort and high-speed highway stability, making it much more suitable for the commute between Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Compared to the Jeep Wrangler, the Patrol offers a much more spacious 7-seat configuration and a superior cooling system that is specifically engineered for the 50-degree Celsius summers of the Gulf. The 4.8L VTC engine provides a smoother power delivery than the smaller displacement turbo-engines found in many modern rivals. Furthermore, the Patrol’s fuel tank capacity is designed for the vast distances of the Saudi desert, allowing for longer stretches between refueling than the Jeep. It is the only vehicle that manages to be a hardcore off-roader while still feeling like a spacious family SUV.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 4.8L VTC engine reflects its heavy-duty nature, averaging around 16 to 18 liters per 100km in mixed GCC driving conditions. On long highway stretches at 120 km/h, the engine settles into a comfortable rhythm, though city traffic in Riyadh or Dubai will see higher consumption due to the vehicle's weight. Maintenance is exceptionally straightforward, with authorized service centers like Al Masaood, Arabian Automobiles, and Petromin available in every major city across the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Parts availability is arguably the best in the region, with components available at almost every independent garage, ensuring low long-term repair costs. This trim enjoys the lowest depreciation rate in its class, often retaining up to 85% of its value after three years, which is significantly better than European luxury SUVs. As a GCC-spec vehicle, it retains its full value across borders, making it a liquid asset in the regional used car market.

Performance & Capability

The heart of this vehicle is the 4.8-liter 6-cylinder VTC engine, producing 280 horsepower and a massive 420 Nm of torque. This torque is crucial for sand driving, allowing the vehicle to climb steep dunes without needing to constantly redline the engine. The 0-100 km/h time is respectable for a heavy SUV, but the real performance is felt in the mid-range during highway overtaking. It features a genuine 4WD system with a low-range transfer case and a rear differential lock, allowing it to navigate terrain that would stop most modern crossovers. With high ground clearance and optimized approach angles, it can handle deep sand and rocky wadis with ease. Even when fully loaded with seven passengers, the suspension is tuned to manage the weight without bottoming out on uneven desert tracks. It is a vehicle built for the adventurer who requires absolute mechanical confidence in remote locations.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the Super Safari offers a 7-seat layout that genuinely accommodates a large family, with a third row that can be folded away to create substantial cargo space. The air conditioning system is legendary in the GCC, featuring powerful vents that can drop the cabin temperature to comfortable levels within minutes of starting, even after sitting in the direct midday sun. The tan leather seats are designed for durability and ease of cleaning after a day at the beach or in the desert. Interior insulation has been improved in this model year to reduce road noise during high-speed highway cruising, though you still get the satisfying growl of the VTC engine under acceleration. A sunroof provides a sense of openness, while the elevated seating position gives the driver a commanding view of the road, essential for safety on busy multi-lane highways. It is a cabin designed for utility, but finished with materials that feel premium and lasting.

Safety

This Super Safari comes equipped with essential safety features tailored for both urban and off-road environments. Standard equipment includes dual front airbags, ABS with Brake Assist, and Electronic Brake-force Distribution, which are vital for maintaining control of a large SUV during sudden stops on sandy or wet asphalt. The Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) and Traction Control System are particularly useful for maintaining stability when transitioning from desert tracks to paved roads. For long highway journeys, the cruise control system allows for relaxed driving, while the rear-view camera and parking sensors make navigating tight city parking spots much simpler. The robust ladder-frame chassis also provides an inherent level of passive safety, offering a strong protective shell for all seven occupants. Unlike rivals that often lack these features on base models, the Super Safari includes them as part of its premium positioning.

The bottom line

For a buyer who wants a legendary off-roader that is essentially still in its break-in period, this low-mileage 2022 Super Safari is the smartest purchase in the UAE today. It combines the best resale value in the region with the peace of mind that comes from owning a well-maintained, GCC-spec icon.
