Summary

This 2022 Ghost Black Badge represents the sharper, driver-focused evolution of the world’s most refined sedan. In the GCC market, the Black Badge trim is highly coveted for its 'murdered-out' aesthetic and increased engine potency, making it a stronger choice for resale than the standard model. With its hand-built V12 engine and iconic Spirit of Ecstasy finished in dark chrome, it stands alone in the segment for pure presence and theater. The Silver exterior is a premier resale choice in the region, effectively masking road dust while reflecting the intense summer sun. For a buyer seeking the pinnacle of luxury with a darker, more contemporary edge, this GCC-spec example offers a rare blend of status and performance.

This Car vs Other 2022 Ghosts

With 68,000 km, this Ghost has been driven slightly more than the typical executive weekend car, yet this is often an indicator of a vehicle that has been mechanically exercised and regularly maintained at official centers. In the GCC market, high-mileage luxury cars are common due to long-distance highway commutes between Emirates, where the Ghost’s effortless cruising ability truly shines. The Silver exterior is one of the top three colors for value retention in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, ensuring broad appeal when it eventually returns to the market.

Black Badge vs Lower Trims

The Black Badge trim is not just an appearance package; it adds a significant 28 hp and 50 Nm of torque over the standard Ghost, alongside a re-tuned 'Low' mode on the transmission for more immediate throttle response. GCC buyers will appreciate the darker chrome exterior treatment and the 'Technical Fiber' interior fascia, which replaces traditional wood with a complex weave of carbon and metallic fibers. It also features a unique air suspension calibration that is slightly firmer, providing better body control during high-speed highway lane changes.

Ghost vs Segment Rivals

The Ghost leads rivals like the Bentley Flying Spur and Mercedes-Maybach S-Class in pure isolation, utilizing over 100kg of sound-deadening material to maintain a silent cabin even at 140 km/h. Its bespoke 'Planar' suspension system includes a world-first upper wishbone damper that anticipates road surface changes, a level of mechanical sophistication not found in its competitors. While others focus on technology, the Rolls-Royce focuses on effortless 'waftability' that is unmatched on long cross-border drives across the GCC.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the Black Badge V12 averages around 15.8 L/100km on a combined cycle, though city driving in stop-start traffic can see this rise significantly. Authorized service centers are widely available across major GCC cities, including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Riyadh, and Doha, ensuring expert care is always nearby. While high-end luxury sedans typically depreciate by 12–15% annually in the region, the Black Badge trim consistently holds a premium over standard Ghost models due to its high demand in the pre-owned market.

Performance & Capability

The 591 hp output ensures this 2.5-ton sedan hits 100 km/h in a sports-car-rivaling 4.7 seconds, providing effortless overtaking power on the E11 highway. The all-wheel-drive system and all-wheel steering work in harmony to make this large sedan feel surprisingly agile in urban environments like Downtown Dubai. The top speed is electronically governed at 250 km/h, a limit it reaches with a composure that few other vehicles on earth can emulate.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a sanctuary from the GCC heat, featuring a high-capacity climate control system and ventilated seating for all five occupants. The Starlight Headliner creates a bespoke evening ambiance, while the rear coach doors close at the touch of a button for ultimate passenger convenience. Thick lamb's wool floor mats and deep-pile carpets provide a tactile luxury that remains the benchmark for the executive sedan segment.

Safety

This Ghost comes equipped with a comprehensive ADAS suite tailored for high-speed highway safety, including night vision with pedestrian and wildlife detection, active cruise control, and a four-camera system with a panoramic view. The laser headlights provide over 600 meters of illumination, essential for nighttime desert highway driving. Standard blind-spot monitoring and lane-departure warnings provide peace of mind in fast-moving, multi-lane GCC traffic.

The bottom line

This 2022 Black Badge is the ideal choice for a driver who demands the world’s finest luxury sedan but wants the added performance and modern presence that only the Black Badge trim provides.
