Summary

This 2023 Land Rover Defender 110 HSE P400 is a highly desirable example of the modern off-road icon, presented in the strongest resale color combination for the GCC market. With the P400 mild-hybrid powertrain, it offers a refined 400 hp that balances highway cruising with genuine desert capability. The HSE trim is a significant step up, providing the premium cabin features that local buyers prioritize, including ventilated seating for the intense summer heat. While the mileage reflects active use, its GCC-spec status ensures full compatibility with regional service networks and climate-specific cooling requirements. For a buyer seeking the perfect blend of a luxury daily driver and a weekend explorer, this Defender represents a balanced and road-proven opportunity.

This Car vs Other 2023 Defender 110s

The mileage on this vehicle is slightly above the GCC annual average for a luxury SUV, indicating it has likely been used for long-distance highway commutes between emirates or across borders. This active use is often preferable to a car that has spent its life in stop-start city traffic, as it keeps the mechanical systems at optimal operating temperatures. The black exterior is a primary resale color in the region, ensuring it will remain in high demand when it comes time to trade in.

HSE P400 vs Lower Trims

The HSE trim adds essential luxury layers over the standard S and SE models, most notably substituting the base upholstery for high-grade Windsor leather and adding cooled (ventilated) front seats—a non-negotiable feature for GCC summers. It also upgrades the audio experience to the Meridian Surround Sound System and includes the 360-degree 3D Surround Camera as standard. Under the hood, the P400 powertrain provides nearly 100 extra horsepower compared to the P300, making it far more capable for highway overtaking and soft-sand desert driving.

Defender 110 vs Segment Rivals

When compared to the Toyota Land Cruiser 300, the Defender offers a more sophisticated monocoque chassis that provides superior on-road handling and refinement. Against the Mercedes-Benz G-Class, the Defender remains the more practical family choice with vastly better interior ergonomics and a larger usable boot space. Its 900 mm wading depth and adjustable air suspension allow it to navigate heavy rains and desert wadis with more technical precision than most luxury competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

The P400 engine utilizes a 48V mild-hybrid system to smooth out stop-start traffic, resulting in a combined real-world fuel consumption of approximately 11.2 L/100km. Being a GCC-spec vehicle, it is supported by an extensive network of authorized Al Tayer and Euro Motors service centers across the UAE and the wider region. While European luxury SUVs typically see 12-15% annual depreciation, the Defender 110 has shown exceptional value retention in the local market due to its high demand and iconic status.

Performance & Capability

The 3.0-liter straight-six engine delivers 400 hp and 550 Nm of torque, enabling a 0–100 km/h sprint in just 6.1 seconds. Its capability is anchored by the Terrain Response 2 system, which automatically adjusts the twin-speed transfer box and locking differentials for sand, rock, or mud. With a maximum ground clearance of 291 mm provided by the electronic air suspension, this vehicle is as comfortable crossing the Liwa dunes as it is cruising on E11.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a sanctuary of tech and comfort, featuring a 5-seat layout with dual-zone climate control and dedicated rear vents to ensure all passengers stay cool in 45°C+ temperatures. The Pivi Pro infotainment system is displayed on a crisp 11.4-inch touchscreen, complemented by a digital driver's display. Premium materials like the Ebony Windsor leather and a sliding panoramic roof enhance the sense of space, while the cabin insulation effectively silences wind noise during high-speed highway travel.

Safety

Safety is comprehensive with a 5-star Euro NCAP rating, supported by a full suite of ADAS features including Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, and Blind Spot Assist. For the GCC driver, the ClearSight rear-view mirror is particularly useful when the boot is loaded for a camping trip, and the 360-degree camera makes parking in tight urban spaces effortless. The vehicle also features Wade Sensing technology to monitor water depth in real-time.

The bottom line

This Defender 110 HSE is the ideal choice for a GCC resident who wants the most capable off-roader in the segment without sacrificing the luxury and tech of a premium sedan. It is a well-sorted, high-spec example in a top-tier color that is ready for immediate adventure.
