Toyota Land Cruiser GXR 4.0 L Petrol

Highlights

• 110-litre fuel tank with factory sub-tank system
• Crawl Control and Multi-Terrain Select standard
• Strong value retention in the GCC used market

Summary

This 3-year-old Land Cruiser GXR is a standout find in the GCC market, showing exceptionally low mileage for its age compared to the typical 20,000 km annual average seen locally. Finished in black, one of the region's most desirable resale colors, it offers the perfect balance of prestige and long-term liquidity. The 4.0L V6 is a legendary workhorse, built to withstand the extreme summer heat and long-distance desert treks that define driving in the Emirates and Saudi Arabia. For a buyer seeking the ultimate regional icon with minimal wear, this low-distance example is a top-tier opportunity.

This Car vs Other 2023 Land Cruisers

With just 6,496 km on the clock, this vehicle has covered significantly less ground than the 60,000 km typically expected for a 3-year-old SUV in the GCC. While many 2023 models have already spent years as daily highway commuters between emirates, this example remains in near-showroom mechanical state. The black exterior is a highly sought-after choice in the UAE and wider region, ensuring it remains a liquid asset with high demand at resale.

GXR vs Lower Trims

Choosing the GXR over the entry-level EXR adds essential premium touches that GCC buyers prioritize, such as upgraded 20-inch alloy wheels and integrated roof rails. Inside, the GXR replaces basic fabric with more durable synthetic leather and introduces the Panoramic View Monitor, making it much easier to park in tight urban mall spaces. It also includes the full Crawl Control suite and Turn Assist, hardware that is often simplified or absent on lower-spec export models.

Land Cruiser vs Segment Rivals

The Land Cruiser leads the Nissan Patrol and Chevrolet Tahoe in terms of total range for cross-border travel, thanks to its standard 110-litre dual-tank configuration. While rivals might offer larger displacements, the Toyota 4.0L V6 is unmatched for its cooling efficiency in 45-degree temperatures and its ability to run reliably on local fuel grades. Its compact turning circle of 11.7 meters also makes it surprisingly manageable in city traffic compared to the larger American alternatives.

Running Costs & Resale

The 4.0L V6 is designed for durability, with real-world consumption averaging around 10.6 L/100km on the highway. Service intervals are typically every 10,000 km, supported by the most extensive authorized service network in the GCC, from Al-Futtaim in the UAE to Abdul Latif Jameel in KSA. Land Cruisers traditionally retain approximately 75-80% of their value after three years in this market, outperforming European luxury SUVs by a significant margin.

Performance & Capability

The 271 hp V6 engine is paired with a robust 6-speed automatic transmission and a permanent All-Wheel Drive system, providing steady power for highway overtaking and dune crossing. It features a specialized low-range transfer case and a rear differential lock, allowing it to navigate soft sand that would stall a road-biased crossover. With a high ground clearance and optimized approach angles, it is as capable on a weekend desert trip as it is refined on the E11 highway.

Comfort & Cabin

This 7-seater configuration is ideal for GCC families, offering dedicated rear climate control vents to ensure passenger comfort during the peak summer months. The cabin is well-insulated against exterior heat and wind noise, featuring an 8-inch touchscreen with smartphone integration and a 7-inch digital driver display. The GXR trim adds power-adjustable seating and high-quality synthetic leather surfaces that are easier to maintain in sandy environments.

Safety

Standard safety equipment includes a comprehensive suite of airbags and the Toyota Safety Sense package, featuring Dynamic Radar Cruise Control and Lane Departure Alert for long desert drives. The Panoramic View Monitor provides a 360-degree perspective, which is crucial for identifying obstacles in both off-road terrain and crowded city parking. Anti-lock brakes and stability control are specifically tuned to maintain grip on the variable surfaces common across the region.

The bottom line

For the GCC buyer who wants the reliability of a Land Cruiser without the high mileage of a typical used unit, this pristine 4.0L GXR is the ideal regional workhorse.
