Summary

This 2023 Volkswagen Teramont Trendline is a highly practical choice for large families in the GCC, offering the robust 3.6L V6 engine that is widely preferred in this region over smaller turbocharged units. Its white exterior is a strategic choice for the local climate, reflecting heat effectively and maintaining strong resale demand in the secondary market. As a GCC-spec vehicle with three rows of genuine adult-sized seating, it stands out for its interior volume and specialized cooling systems. While the mileage reflects active family use, the car's mechanical simplicity and widespread parts availability make it a dependable long-term companion for life in the Emirates. The balance of 4Motion All-Wheel Drive and 280 horsepower ensures confident performance for both city commutes and long highway stretches between cities.

This Car vs Other 2023 Teramonts

With approximately 84,874 km on the odometer, this Teramont has been driven slightly more than the typical 20,000–25,000 km annual average for the GCC, likely reflecting frequent highway travel between emirates. The white exterior is a major advantage for resale in the local market, as it remains the most sought-after color for maintaining cabin temperature and secondary market value. Its GCC-spec status ensures the cooling system and engine mapping are specifically tuned for peak summer performance.

TRENDLINE vs Lower Trims

The Trendline 3.6L serves as a significant mechanical step up from the base 2.0L turbo variants, providing the naturally aspirated V6 power that GCC buyers value for its long-term durability and highway overtaking capability. Standard features include LED headlights and an 8-inch touchscreen with App-Connect, ensuring the essential tech and visibility expected in a modern family SUV. Choosing this trim ensures you get the larger engine without the high price premium of the R-Line styling packages.

Teramont vs Segment Rivals

The Teramont competes directly with the Ford Explorer and Honda Pilot, distinguishing itself by offering one of the most spacious third rows in the segment that can actually accommodate adults comfortably. Its 70-litre fuel tank is well-suited for long desert highway drives, and the flat-folding seat mechanism provides a more versatile cargo area than many rivals. The German engineering focus on chassis stability makes it feel more planted at high speeds on the E11 than its softer competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

The 3.6L V6 engine typically averages around 10.5 to 11.5 L/100km in mixed GCC driving conditions, making it predictable for daily budgeting. Volkswagen's service network is extensive across the UAE and the wider GCC, with standard intervals occurring every 15,000 km or once a year. While European SUVs generally depreciate faster than Japanese alternatives, the Teramont's reputation for family practicality helps it retain roughly 55-60% of its value over three years in the local used market.

Performance & Capability

The 280 hp V6 engine delivers a top speed of 190 km/h and can propel this large SUV from 0-100 km/h in approximately 8.3 seconds. The 4Motion All-Wheel Drive system provides excellent traction during the occasional sand-blown highway drive or gravel track leading to weekend campsites. With a maximum cargo volume of 2,741 litres when all rear seats are folded, it offers the utility of a small van with the refinement of a German-engineered SUV.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for the GCC summer, featuring powerful air conditioning with dedicated vents for all three rows to ensure every passenger stays cool. The seven-seat layout is highly flexible, allowing the second row to slide and tilt even with child seats installed for easy access to the back. Sound insulation is a highlight, keeping the interior quiet and refined even at sustained highway speeds of 140 km/h.

Safety

Standard safety features on this trim include a rearview camera, front and rear parking sensors, and Volkswagen's Multi-Collision Brake system. For fast-moving GCC highway traffic, the Teramont includes essential passive safety like six airbags and a high-strength safety cage design. It has historically earned a 5-star safety rating from international bodies, providing peace of mind for family logistics.

The bottom line

For a growing family in the UAE, this 3.6L V6 Teramont offers the perfect mix of German refinement, genuine seven-seat space, and the reliability of a naturally aspirated powertrain designed for the heat.
