Summary

This 2024 Land Rover Defender 110 HSE P400 is an exceptional find, combining a refined 3.0-litre inline-six MHEV powertrain with the luxury-focused HSE specification. With 34,000 km, its mileage is slightly above the regional average for a one-year-old vehicle but reflects a car primarily utilized for the long-distance highway cruising it was engineered to master. The black exterior is a high-demand choice in the GCC, ensuring strong resale liquidity and a timeless aesthetic across the Emirates. As an HSE trim, it bridges the gap between rugged utility and executive comfort, making it the ideal choice for those who demand daily refinement without sacrificing legendary off-road capability. For any GCC buyer, the balance of the P400’s power and the HSE’s ventilated cabin makes this one of the most versatile SUVs on the market today.

This Car vs Other 2024 Defender 110s

While average annual mileage in the GCC typically ranges between 20,000 and 25,000 km, this unit’s 34,000 km indicates consistent use, likely on high-speed inter-city routes which are easier on the mechanical components than heavy urban idling. The black-on-black color scheme is a significant asset in the local market, consistently holding a value premium over more niche tones. This specific HSE trim is highly sought after compared to base models, as it includes the cooling and tech features essential for the regional climate.

HSE P400 vs Lower Trims

Stepping up to the HSE P400 over the standard S or SE trims introduces the 400 hp mild-hybrid engine, providing a necessary power boost for highway overtaking. Inside, the HSE adds premium Windsor leather, 14-way heated and cooled memory front seats, and the superior Meridian Sound System. It also standardizes the sliding panoramic roof and advanced Matrix LED headlights, features that are often expensive standalone options on lower configurations.

Defender 110 vs Segment Rivals

The Defender 110 leads rivals like the BMW X5 and Mercedes-Benz GLE in pure off-road geometry, offering a vastly superior 900 mm wading depth and adjustable air suspension for desert terrain. While the Lexus GX offers ruggedness, the Defender provides a more sophisticated unibody ride quality and advanced Pivi Pro infotainment. Its 90-litre fuel tank ensures longer range between stops during cross-border drives compared to many road-biased luxury crossovers.

Running Costs & Resale

The P400 powertrain averages approximately 11.6 L/100km on the highway, though GCC city traffic will see figures closer to 14.5 L/100km. Service intervals are typically set at 26,000 km or 12 months, supported by an extensive authorized network including Al Tayer in the UAE and Naghi Motors in Saudi Arabia. The Defender 110 currently enjoys some of the highest value retention in the luxury SUV segment, typically depreciating only 10-12% in its first year within the GCC market.

Performance & Capability

Powered by a 3.0L twin-charged inline-six, the P400 delivers 400 hp and 550 Nm of torque, enabling a 0-100 km/h sprint of just 6.1 seconds. The electronic air suspension can raise the vehicle to a maximum ground clearance of 291 mm, allowing it to navigate deep sand dunes and rocky wadis with ease. It features a twin-speed transfer box with high and low range, providing the mechanical grit required for genuine weekend overland adventures.

Comfort & Cabin

The HSE cabin is specifically tailored for the GCC heat, featuring high-performance ventilated front seats and a powerful multi-zone climate control system with rear vents. The 11.4-inch Pivi Pro touchscreen is intuitive and responsive, paired with a digital driver display that provides clear navigation prompts. Acoustic glazing and superior insulation keep the interior remarkably quiet, even when cruising at 140 km/h on the E11 highway.

Safety

Standard safety equipment on the HSE P400 is comprehensive, featuring a 3D Surround Camera with Wade Sensing that is invaluable for both tight parking and off-road navigation. The suite includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Assist, and Lane Keep Assist, providing a safety net for long desert highway drives. Additionally, the Terrain Response 2 system automatically adjusts safety and traction settings to match the surface, ensuring stability on everything from loose gravel to wet tarmac.

The bottom line

For the buyer seeking a modern icon that is as comfortable at a Burj Al Arab valet as it is crossing the Liwa desert, this black HSE P400 represents the perfect balance of prestige and performance.
