Summary

This 1-year-old Explorer ST is a standout find in the GCC market, offering the perfect balance of family utility and genuine performance. Finished in Rapid Red—a high-visibility color that maintains strong resale demand locally—this SUV has covered just 19,020 km, which is significantly below the typical annual average for the region. As the performance flagship of the lineup, the ST trim provides a much sharper driving experience than its rivals without sacrificing the comfort required for long highway stretches between cities. With its GCC-specific cooling systems and low mileage, this vehicle represents a secure investment for a buyer who wants a practical seven-seater with the soul of a sports car.

This Car vs Other 2025 Explorers

With just 19,020 km on the odometer, this Explorer has been driven less than the 20,000–25,000 km typically expected for a vehicle of this age in the GCC. The Rapid Red Metallic paint is not only a signature performance color but also sits among the top-tier choices for local resale value. Finding a current-model-year ST with such low mileage offers a significant advantage in terms of remaining factory support and mechanical longevity.

ST vs Lower Trims

Upgrading to the ST from the ST-Line or Active trims replaces the four-cylinder engine with a potent 400 hp twin-turbo V6 and adds a sport-tuned suspension for superior highway stability. Inside, the ST adds GCC essentials like ventilated front seats and premium leather with Miko suede inserts that remain comfortable in extreme heat. Unlike lower trims, the ST also features a 360-degree camera, a 10-speaker B&O sound system, and multicontour massaging seats as standard equipment.

Explorer vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Toyota Highlander and Honda Pilot, the Explorer ST offers significantly more power and a higher towing capacity of up to 2,268 kg. While rivals focus primarily on soft rides, the Ford provides a more European-style handling characteristic that feels more composed at high highway speeds. Its 76.5-litre fuel tank ensures longer range for cross-border desert drives compared to many smaller-capacity competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 3.0L V6 averages approximately 11.6 L/100km combined, though highway cruising is notably more efficient. Maintenance is streamlined across the region with authorized service centers like Al Tayer in the UAE and Al Jazirah in Saudi Arabia offering specialized GCC service plans. This performance trim holds its value better than the standard models in the local used market due to its high demand and limited availability.

Performance & Capability

The 400 hp twin-turbo V6 delivers 0–100 km/h in just 5.6 seconds, making it one of the quickest three-row SUVs in its price bracket. The Intelligent 4WD system includes seven selectable drive modes, including specific settings for sand and slippery surfaces common on weekend trips. The 10-speed automatic transmission is recalibrated for the ST to provide faster, more responsive shifts for confident overtaking on fast-moving UAE highways.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for GCC summers, featuring a high-output air conditioning system with dedicated vents for all three rows. The 7-seat configuration is highly versatile, with a PowerFold third row that disappears at the touch of a button to expand cargo space. Technological highlights include the 13.2-inch central touchscreen and a fully digital instrument cluster, both of which integrate seamlessly with local navigation needs.

Safety

This ST comes equipped with the full Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist+ suite, providing essential GCC safety features like Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) for multi-lane traffic and Adaptive Cruise Control for long desert drives. Pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking and a 360-degree camera system make navigating tight city parking and heavy traffic much safer for the whole family.

The bottom line

For the GCC buyer who needs a 7-seater but refuses to drive a boring SUV, this low-mileage 2025 ST is the ideal high-performance family workhorse.
