Hardcore Ferrari 488 GTO confirmed

Can you believe the Ferrari 488 is almost two years old? It feels like it was only yesterday the Italian sports car made its debut and since it launched many of us have been waiting for a hardcore version of it. Well, we can finally confirm a Ferrari 488 GTO is on the way with more power.

Sticking with the twin turbocharged 3.9-litre V8 motor, Ferrari 488 GTO models will ship with an estimated 700 horsepower (30 horsepower more than standard models).

While the Maranello factory hasn’t confirmed what’s inside, we except bucket seats, lightweight carbon fibre trim covering the dashboard and door panels, thinner glass and fewer creature comfort options.

Hidden from plain view, expect enhanced suspension and brakes plus a few other sport upgrades here and there.

With the increased power, competition components and stripped out interior, Ferrari 488 GT0 models should be able to run 0-100 km/h in a mere 2.7 seconds.

The confirmation comes at the perfect time as the Porsche 911 GT2 is right around the corner, Lamborghini has their Huracan Perfamonte on the way with a roadster version too, and McLaren has recently revealed their 720S with additional MSO extras.

GTO names are no stranger to Ferrari as we’ve seen it attached to the 599, 288 and the legendary 250 all of which proved more potent than their base models. Pontiac also had a GTO model which has no connection to the Italian manufacturer.

Ferrari 488 GTO sport cars have yet to receive a launch date. Until then, we’ve got new Ferrari 488 and used Ferrari 488 for sale in Dubai.
