Is Mercedes axing the SLC lineup?

With the SLK Series being rebranded at as the SLC Series only recently, reports suggest that the model lineup could be removed from the entire range.

According to sources, the SLC series has “disappeared for good from the cycle plan.” This news also broke out after the convertible Mercedes was said to adopt the MSA platform as well as a slight redesign.

If this is the case and the SLC is removed, once the BMW Z5 launches in the next few years, Mercedes may not have a rival for the long-awaited convertible. There is the possibility of the C-Class Cabrio to fill that gap when BMW launch their model.

The is a lot more to the report than just the SLC-Series being axed. It also suggests the S-Class Coupe could be dropped in favour for a upscaled E-Class Coupe and the future of the S-Class Cabriolet is up in arms too.

In other news, reports suggest the next generation of the Mercedes SL and AMG GT will share an identical platform with the former morphing into a larger 2+2 convertible.

Additionally, the SL series is said to lose it’s hard top roof in favour for a soft fabric one similar to that of the AMG GT C.

Mercedes have yet to confirm when exactly we’ll see the SLC discontinued we expect it sooner rather than later.

We’ve yet to see an SLC online here in the UAE. However, we’ve got new Mercedes-Benz and used Mercedes-Benz for sale in Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi and Ajman.
