Land Rover Range Rover Sport HSE

Highlights

• 375 hp from a 5.0-litre V8 engine
• Terrain Response with selectable off-road modes
• 3,500 kg braked towing capacity

Summary

This GCC-spec Land Rover Range Rover Sport HSE represents the significant 2010 mechanical update, featuring the robust 5.0-litre V8 that replaced the older 4.4-litre units. With 120,000 km on the clock, this SUV has been driven approximately 8,500 km per year, which is exceptionally low for the UAE where 25,000 km is the annual norm. The Grey exterior is a highly practical choice for the region, offering better heat management than black and maintaining strong resale appeal. As an HSE trim, it provides a luxury-oriented cabin that bridges the gap between rugged off-road capability and executive road presence. For a buyer seeking the classic Sport silhouette with the updated Jaguar-sourced powertrain, this is a well-preserved example perfectly suited for cross-emirate highway cruises.

This Car vs Other 2010 Range Rover Sports

At 120,000 km, this vehicle has covered less than half the distance of a typical 2010 model in the GCC, where heavy highway use is common. Most examples from this era have surpassed 200,000 km, making this low-mileage unit a rare find for the model year. The Grey finish is one of the most resilient colors for the local climate, hiding fine desert dust better than darker shades while holding value better than niche colors.

HSE vs Lower Trims

The HSE (High Specification Equipment) trim was the primary luxury tier for the 2010 model year, sitting above the standard SE. It adds essential GCC comforts including premium leather upholstery, a standard sunroof, and an upgraded Harman Kardon audio system. Crucially, the HSE includes the enhanced hard-disk-based navigation system and front/rear parking sensors, which were often optional on base models.

Range Rover Sport vs Segment Rivals

The Range Rover Sport leads rivals like the BMW X5 and Porsche Cayenne in pure off-road versatility thanks to its standard air suspension and low-range transfer case. While German competitors focus on track-like handling, the Sport offers a 3,500 kg towing capacity and superior wading depth for unpredictable regional terrain. Its split-tailgate and upright glasshouse provide better visibility in tight city traffic compared to the sloping roofs of its peers.

Running Costs & Resale

The naturally aspirated 5.0L V8 delivers a combined fuel consumption of approximately 13.9 L/100km, which is standard for a heavy 4x4 in this class. Service intervals are typically every 12,000 km or 6 months in the GCC to account for extreme summer heat. Being a GCC-spec model, it benefits from a wide network of authorized service centers and independent specialists across the UAE and Saudi Arabia. While European luxury SUVs depreciate faster than Japanese alternatives, the low mileage on this specific HSE helps it maintain a price floor significantly above high-mileage examples.

Performance & Capability

Equipped with the 375 hp V8, this SUV achieves 0-100 km/h in approximately 6.5 seconds, providing plenty of power for merging onto fast-moving UAE motorways. The Terrain Response system allows drivers to select modes for Sand, Mud, and Rock, adjusting the suspension and throttle response for weekend desert adventures. The adjustable air suspension provides a smooth ride over highway expansion joints while offering extra ground clearance for light trail work.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for five occupants with ample headroom, featuring a multi-zone climate control system that is specifically tuned to handle 45-degree GCC summers. The elevated 'Command Driving Position' provides excellent visibility across all four corners of the vehicle, making it feel smaller than it is in city traffic. Acoustic glass and thick carpets help isolate the interior from road noise during long-distance drives between Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Safety

Standard safety equipment includes a comprehensive eight-airbag system and Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) to maintain traction on sand-slicked tarmac. The HSE trim also includes electronic brakeforce distribution and emergency brake assist, ensuring the heavy SUV comes to a controlled stop even when towing. Its heavy-duty construction and high seating position provide a natural safety advantage in multi-lane highway environments.

The bottom line

This is a rare opportunity to own a low-mileage, GCC-spec 2010 Sport with the desirable 5.0L engine, making it an ideal choice for a buyer who values classic Range Rover styling and V8 performance without the high price of a new model.
