Summary

This 2018 Ford Edge Titanium is a standout choice for GCC buyers seeking a refined monocoque SUV that balances power and comfort. With 112,000 km, its mileage is exactly in line with the GCC average for its age, suggesting a well-maintained highway life typical of the region. The Bronze exterior is a sophisticated, heat-reflective choice that holds its appeal well in the local resale market. As the Titanium trim, it offers the luxury features essential for long-distance drives across the Emirates, while the naturally aspirated V6 provides the reliable power needed for effortless highway overtaking. This model year represents a proven mechanical platform, ensuring straightforward parts availability and service support across the Gulf.

This Car vs Other 2018 Edges

At 112,000 km, this Edge sits at a healthy average for a six-year-old vehicle in the GCC, where 20,000 km per year is the standard benchmark. The Bronze finish is a practical and attractive choice for the region, resisting the visible dust of the desert while maintaining a premium appearance that aids resale value. Compared to many higher-mileage examples in the market, this car offers a balanced ownership history.

Titanium vs Lower Trims

The Titanium trim significantly elevates the cabin experience over the SE and SEL, adding a premium 12-speaker Sony audio system and acoustic noise-reducing front glass for a quieter ride at highway speeds. It also introduces essential convenience features for the GCC climate, such as memory settings for the leather seats and a hands-free power liftgate, which are often absent on lower-spec models. The inclusion of the 3.5L V6 engine provides a smoother, more relaxed power delivery than the base four-cylinder EcoBoost.

Edge vs Segment Rivals

The Ford Edge leads rivals like the Nissan Murano and Jeep Grand Cherokee in terms of total cargo flexibility and on-road refinement. While the Grand Cherokee leans toward off-road use, the Edge’s monocoque chassis offers superior ride comfort for daily commutes between Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Its 72-litre fuel tank is specifically well-suited for long-range cruising across the GCC without frequent stops.

Running Costs & Resale

The 3.5L V6 engine is a durable choice for the region, requiring standard 5W-30 synthetic oil with recommended 10,000 km service intervals, though 5,000 km oil changes are common for extreme summer heat. Real-world fuel consumption typically averages around 10.5 L/100km, which is competitive for a V6-powered SUV in stop-start city traffic. Ford’s extensive authorized service network across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman ensures that parts and maintenance remain accessible, helping the Edge retain approximately 50-55% of its value after five years.

Performance & Capability

The 280 hp Ti-VCT V6 engine provides predictable and responsive performance, achieving 0-100 km/h in approximately 7.1 seconds. This power is managed by a 6-speed SelectShift automatic transmission with paddle shifters, offering driver control during mountain passes in Hatta or Jebel Jais. With a maximum towing capacity of 1,588 kg when properly equipped, it is more than capable of hauling jet skis or light trailers for weekend adventures.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the Titanium trim features perforated leather-trimmed sport seats that are designed to remain comfortable during the intense Gulf summers. The dual-zone electronic automatic temperature control is paired with rear air vents, ensuring all five passengers stay cool regardless of outside temperatures. Cabin tech is highlighted by the SYNC 3 infotainment system on an 8-inch touchscreen, featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for seamless navigation and media integration.

Safety

Safety is a priority with a full suite of airbags and Ford’s AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control (RSC), which is particularly effective on sandy or uneven road surfaces. This Titanium trim also includes a rearview camera and a reverse sensing system as standard, providing extra confidence in tight urban parking scenarios. The 2018 Edge was highly rated for crash safety, making it a reliable choice for families throughout the GCC.

The bottom line

This Ford Edge Titanium is the ideal match for a professional or small family looking for a high-spec, V6-powered SUV that is ready for both city commuting and cross-border road trips. It offers a premium cabin experience and proven reliability at a price point that makes it one of the strongest mid-size SUV opportunities in the current market.
