Land Rover Range Rover AUTOBIOGRAPHY

• Genuine off-road rated

Summary

This 2024 Land Rover Range Rover represents the most desirable configuration currently available in the GCC used market, blending the highly sought-after 4.4L V8 engine with the prestigious AUTOBIOGRAPHY trim. While the mileage reflects active use, it remains well within the expected range for a high-end luxury cruiser in this region, where highway travel between major cities is the norm. The unique exterior color is a sophisticated choice that stands out in a sea of monochrome SUVs, maintaining excellent resale appeal for buyers seeking exclusivity. This model significantly outperforms rivals like the BMW X7 or Mercedes-Benz GLS in terms of off-road heritage and presence, offering a more commanding driving position and superior material quality. For a GCC buyer, the primary draw is the combination of a factory warranty still in place and the specific GCC specification, ensuring the cooling systems and air conditioning are built to withstand our extreme summer heat. It is a rare opportunity to acquire a current-generation flagship that has already moved past the initial steep depreciation curve.

This Car vs Other 2024 Range Rovers

When comparing this specific unit to other 2024 models on the market, the mileage is slightly above the average for a garage-kept city car but perfectly aligned with the typical GCC usage pattern of approximately 25,000 km per year. Given that many Range Rovers in the UAE and Saudi Arabia are used for frequent commutes between emirates or across borders, 47,000 km indicates a vehicle that has been enjoyed on the open road where mechanical wear is generally lower than in stop-start city traffic. The Green exterior is a premium 'heritage' inspired palette that traditionally holds value better than more experimental colors in the local market, appealing to a mature and sophisticated buyer profile. Choosing this vehicle over a lower-mileage base model allows the buyer to access the top-tier engine and luxury features without the massive price premium of a brand-new showroom delivery. It bridges the gap between a collector's item and a daily driver, offering a balanced mechanical history that suggests the vehicle has been properly cycled and maintained rather than sitting idle in heat.

AUTOBIOGRAPHY vs Lower Trims

Stepping up to the AUTOBIOGRAPHY trim from the standard SE or HSE variants introduces a level of craftsmanship that GCC buyers find essential for long-term satisfaction. This trim includes the highest grade of Semi-Aniline leather, which is more breathable and durable under the intense sun of the Middle East compared to standard hides. You also receive the flagship Meridian Signature Sound System as standard, featuring a massive speaker array and world-class noise cancellation that makes long desert drives remarkably serene. The cabin is further distinguished by more extensive wood veneers and a leather headlining, features that lower trims often charge a significant premium for as individual options. Externally, the AUTOBIOGRAPHY is recognized by its unique bumper designs and higher-spec wheel options that give it the road presence required in cities like Dubai or Riyadh. Most importantly for our climate, this trim ensures the most advanced seat cooling and cabin purification systems are included to keep the interior comfortable regardless of the outside temperature.

Range Rover vs Segment Rivals

The Range Rover remains the benchmark for the full-size luxury SUV segment, frequently cross-shopped with the Bentley Bentayga and the Mercedes-Benz GLS. While the Mercedes offers a more tech-heavy digital experience, the Range Rover provides a more substantial feeling of luxury through its simplified, elegant design and superior off-road hardware. It features a genuine low-range transfer case and adjustable air suspension that offers significantly more ground clearance than the BMW X7, making it the only vehicle in this trio truly capable of tackling deep sand or mountain trails in the Northern Emirates. The 4.4L V8 powertrain is also shared with BMW's high-performance line, giving it a mechanical reliability and performance edge over many boutique luxury SUVs. Its fuel tank is generously sized, which is a major advantage for those traveling across the GCC where distances between premium fuel stations can be vast. Ultimately, it offers a prestige that the more common German SUVs cannot match while providing a more practical and robust ownership experience than its British ultra-luxury competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

Operating a 4.4L V8 Range Rover in the GCC is a premium experience that requires an understanding of the local maintenance landscape. In typical GCC highway conditions, the twin-turbo V8 is surprisingly efficient, though city driving in heavy traffic will see consumption rise; we recommend using 98-octane Super fuel to maintain engine health in the heat. As a GCC-spec vehicle, this car is supported by an extensive network of authorized service centers across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, ensuring that parts are readily available and technicians are trained for this specific engine. Historical data shows that while Range Rovers experience a notable drop in value during the first 12 months, a well-maintained AUTOBIOGRAPHY trim stabilizes significantly better than the base models after the two-year mark. After three years, these vehicles remain highly liquid assets in the used market because they are the preferred choice for executive transport and high-profile families. You can expect a depreciation rate of roughly 14-16% annually, which is standard for the European luxury segment but offset by the high demand for current-generation body styles.

Performance & Capability

The heart of this vehicle is the 523 hp V8 engine, which propels this massive SUV from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.6 seconds, providing effortless overtaking power on the E11 or other fast-moving GCC highways. The All Wheel Drive system is paired with Land Rover's legendary Terrain Response 2 technology, which automatically adjusts the car's settings for sand, rock, or gravel, making it a surprisingly capable weekend explorer. With the air suspension at its highest setting, the ground clearance is class-leading, allowing you to navigate obstacles that would stop most other luxury crossovers. It also boasts a towing capacity of up to 3,500 kg, making it ideal for hauling boats or horse trailers common in the region. Despite its size, the all-wheel steering makes it remarkably maneuverable in tight city parking garages and narrow villa streets. The transmission is tuned for smoothness, ensuring that gear changes are imperceptible during high-speed cruising or slow-moving traffic. It is a performance vehicle that never sacrifices its dignity for speed, maintaining a composed and flat cornering stance even on winding mountain roads.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior of the AUTOBIOGRAPHY is a sanctuary designed to isolate passengers from the harsh outside environment of the GCC. It features a 5-seat layout that prioritizes extreme legroom for rear passengers, making it suitable for both family use and chauffeured executive travel. The air conditioning system is specifically engineered for high-ambient temperatures, featuring quad-zone control that can rapidly cool the cabin even after the car has been parked in direct sunlight. Both front and rear seats offer heating, cooling, and massage functions, ensuring that long drives from Abu Dhabi to Muscat are as relaxing as possible. Acoustic laminated glass is used throughout to keep wind and road noise at an absolute minimum, allowing the Meridian audio system to perform at its best. The infotainment system is the latest Pivi Pro unit, which is highly intuitive and features a high-definition screen that remains legible even in the bright desert sun. Storage is ample, with a large center console and a spacious boot that easily accommodates golf clubs, shopping, or luggage for an extended road trip.

Safety

Safety in this flagship SUV is comprehensive, featuring a suite of advanced driver assistance systems that are particularly valuable in the GCC's fast-paced driving environment. Adaptive Cruise Control with Steering Assist takes the stress out of long-distance highway travel, while the 360-degree 3D Surround Camera is essential for navigating such a large vehicle through tight urban areas. Blind Spot Assist is a critical feature on the multi-lane highways of the UAE, where vehicles can approach quickly from either side. The vehicle is also equipped with emergency braking, lane-keep assist, and a driver condition monitor that alerts you if it detects signs of fatigue. Beyond active tech, the chassis is a high-strength aluminum structure designed to provide maximum passenger protection in the event of an impact. It holds a 5-Star Euro NCAP safety rating, the highest possible score, giving you peace of mind whether you are driving solo or with your family. This trim level ensures that every available safety feature is standard, leaving nothing to chance.

The bottom line

This 2024 Range Rover AUTOBIOGRAPHY is the perfect choice for a buyer who wants the prestige of a current-model flagship with a proven GCC service history and the superior 4.4L V8 engine. It represents a significant saving over a new vehicle while offering the same presence and luxury features that define the brand.
