2017 Mercedes-Benz E63 models to have one powertrain

Back in April, we learnt just how powerful 2017 Mercedes-Benz E63 models would be in their highest trim level. Now we can also confirm that the next generation of top of the range E-Class models will have a sole drivetrain to choose from.

And that drivetrain is All Wheel Drive, which appears to be a popular choose amongst powerful machinery these days. AMG boss, Tobias Moers, has stated that they will introduce a brand new all-wheel drive system which will send torque to each axle actively in a similar manner to Ford’s insanely awesome Focus RS.

No four-wheel steering well be present, instead that system is deemed worthy of hardcore and special versions of the Mercedes line-up such as the AMG GT R.

Powering all four wheels is a 4.0-litre BiTurbo V8 engine pumping out between 563 and 604 horsepower with anywhere between 750 to 850 Nm of torque. This is the same engine found in the AMG GT and C63 AMG models but with unique cylinder heads and revised turbocharger placement resulting in an increase of power compared to the other two.

If you like, we were wondering why the German manufacturer has opted only to sell the 2017 Mercedes-Benz E63 with an all-wheel drivetrain. According to Mercedes and their previous generation records, when customers were given the choice between RWD and AWD, up 90% of clients purchased or wanted the latter at least in Germany.

Maybe the all-wheel drive is not your thing, and you would prefer an E63 with a two wheel drive train. We’ve got you covered with new Mercedes-Benz E-Class and used Mercedes-Benz E-Class for sale in Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi.
