2018 Mercedes G-Class updated

Before you get too excited, let us just clarify this right away. The 2018 Mercedes-Benz G-Class will be upgraded into the next generation but will retain its iconic rectangular shape we all know and love.

No with that over and done with we can move on to what is new in the next-generation. Mercedes says that 2018, the interior is their top priority as the body is to be widened leading towards a more spacious interior. Enhanced materials are suggested to be spread inside as well as new tech and the German Manufacturers latest infotainment system.

As it will most likely gain the same screen size (12-Inch) as the S-Class and other Mercedes vehicles have, the analogue dashboard instrument panel could be discarded and replaced with another high definition display for highly accurate readings.

Current generation and luxurious options are expected to return including; cooled front seats, rear TV screens, memory seats, sunroof and so on.

Its chassis also remains unchanged as it’s comprised of steel much like it is in its current form.

Engines are the second part of the upgrade with Mercedes turning their head towards increasing their offerings to include a six-cylinder diesel borrowed from the E-Class range. Both V8 motors with 4.4 and 5.5-litre displacements and there turbocharged inductions are set to return as is the 6.0-litre V12 found in G65 models.

What else it could borrow from the E-Class leads to some speculation. Could minor autonomous capabilities filter ts way in? It is a possibility, however, seeing as the C-Class and S-Class models don’t have the feature yet, G-Class models may have to wait patiently.
