Mercedes adds 2017 GLC 43 crossover to the lineup

Mercedes-Benz must have one of the biggest selection vehicles in today’s market. From sedan’s to sports cars, van’s to buses they seem to have it all. Crossover vehicles are one of the most popular and of course Mercedes have a handful of those including the brand new Mercedes-Benz GLC 43 AMG Coupe which is scheduled to launch in the first quarter of 2017 with an unstated price tag.

Just before that, the mighty crossover will debut at the Paris Motor Show later this year alongside many other vehicles including the Ferrari LaFerrari Spyder, Kia Rio and the brand’s very own AMG GT C.

Powering all four wheels of the GLC 43 AMG is a single 3.0-litre V6 BiTurbo petrol engine rated at 362 horsepower and 520 Nm of torque. Mated to a nine-speed automatic gearbox, 0-100 km/h is achieved in 4.9 seconds, and its top speed is electronically capped at 250 km/h.

With AMG working their magic on the entire machine, the chassis has been tuned and benefits from sports suspension with Air Body Control, speed-sensitive sports steering. Unlike most crossover vehicles, this one can tackle the rough terrain including wadis. Mercedes claim that in can make its way through 300 mm of water and has enough clearance at the front and rear to ensure nothing vital gets flooded.

Inside, it’s typical Mercedes. Ultra luxurious from top to bottom with an aluminium trim to contrast. Outside, the German brand has fitted four exhaust tips, 20-inch rims that can be swapped for 21-inch ones instead and a diamond-patterned grille.

If all of this isn’t enough, Mercedes are currently working on a GLC 63 AMG that could pack 500 horses underneath the bonnet.
