Summary

This 2022 Defender 110 HSE P400 represents a strategic choice for the GCC buyer, balancing the high-output six-cylinder engine with a trim level that retains strong resale demand across the UAE and Saudi Arabia. As an HSE, it moves beyond the basic off-roader into true luxury territory, making it as suitable for an executive commute as it is for a weekend in the Liwa desert. While the mileage is reflective of a vehicle used for regular long-distance highway travel between emirates, the robust P400 mild-hybrid powertrain is engineered specifically for these sustained high-speed, high-heat conditions. In the current market, the black-on-black configuration remains the most liquid asset for future resale, ensuring this vehicle holds its value better than more experimental color combinations. For the buyer who wants the iconic Defender silhouette without sacrificing cabin refinement or overtaking power, this GCC-spec HSE is the definitive all-rounder.

This Car vs Other 2022 Defender 110s

With 110,500 km, this vehicle has been a consistent highway traveler, which is common for family SUVs in the GCC where annual averages often exceed 25,000 km. While there are lower-mileage examples available, they rarely combine the desirable HSE trim with the P400 engine at this price point. The black exterior is a significant advantage, as it remains one of the fastest-selling colors in the UAE used market.

HSE P400 vs Lower Trims

The HSE trim adds essential GCC comforts that the SE and S trims lack, most notably the ventilated Windsor leather front seats and adaptive cruise control for long desert highway stretches. You also benefit from the 700W Meridian Surround Sound system and the opening panoramic sunroof, which elevates the cabin experience significantly. Furthermore, the P400 engine provides a 100 hp jump over the entry-level P300, transforming the 110 from a capable cruiser into a genuine performance SUV.

Defender 110 vs Segment Rivals

The Defender 110 leads rivals like the Toyota Land Cruiser 300 and the Ford Bronco in on-road refinement thanks to its monocoque architecture and sophisticated air suspension. While the Land Cruiser offers a larger service network, the Defender provides a vastly superior interior tech suite with the 11.4-inch Pivi Pro system and a class-leading 900 mm wading depth. It remains the only vehicle in the segment that successfully blends high-fashion luxury with authentic, hardware-backed off-road capability.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the P400 mild-hybrid averages around 11.2 L/100km, which is efficient for a 400 hp SUV during long-distance GCC cruising. Service intervals are typically set at 20,000 km or 12 months, though many UAE owners opt for a 10,000 km oil change to better protect the engine against extreme summer heat. The Defender 110 currently enjoys some of the highest value retention in the European SUV segment across the GCC, typically losing only 12–15% annually compared to 20%+ for rivals.

Performance & Capability

The P400 powertrain delivers a sharp 0–100 km/h time of 6.1 seconds, providing effortless overtaking power on the E11 and E311 highways. The standard electronic air suspension allows you to raise the vehicle to a maximum ground clearance of 291 mm, easily clearing dunes that would stop most soft-roaders. With the Terrain Response system, the car recalibrates its engine and traction settings instantly for sand, rock, or mud, making it a highly competent weekend explorer.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the HSE trim focuses on passenger wellness with three-zone climate control and powerful cooling vents that handle 45°C+ summer peaks with ease. The 14-way power-adjustable seats are both heated and cooled, ensuring year-round comfort during cross-border road trips. Acoustic glass and extensive insulation keep the cabin remarkably quiet, even when the 3.0L inline-six is working hard under load.

Safety

This HSE trim comes standard with a comprehensive ADAS suite including a 3D Surround Camera with ClearSight Ground View, which is invaluable for both tight mall parking and technical off-roading. Standard safety features include Blind Spot Assist, Lane Keep Assist, and Emergency Braking, providing a high degree of protection during fast-moving GCC highway traffic. The vehicle’s robust aluminum architecture is supported by six airbags and advanced stability control specifically tuned for high-center-of-gravity maneuvers.

The bottom line

For the UAE buyer who needs a daily driver that can transition seamlessly from a corporate meeting to a desert camp, this P400 HSE is a high-spec, high-value opportunity in the region's most popular color.
