Summary

This Land Rover Defender 110 SE P300 represents a strategic entry point into one of the most desirable luxury SUV segments in the GCC today. Given that the average annual mileage for a premium SUV in this region is approximately 25,000 km, this vehicle's odometer reading is perfectly aligned with typical highway-heavy usage, suggesting a history of consistent, well-maintained long-distance travel. The black exterior is a massive advantage in the local market, consistently ranking as a top-three resale color that ensures a faster turnaround and higher value retention when it comes time to upgrade. Choosing the P300 powertrain provides a unique balance of modern 300 hp performance and improved fuel efficiency compared to larger V8 alternatives, making it an ideal daily driver for the stop-start traffic of Dubai or Riyadh. This model stands out by offering a authentic dual-purpose character that many luxury rivals lack, functioning as a refined executive carriage by day and a rugged weekend explorer by night. For a GCC buyer, the most important consideration is the robust regional specification which ensures the air conditioning and cooling systems are engineered to thrive in 50-degree summers.

This Car vs Other 2023 Defender 110s

When looking at the 2023 pre-owned market in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, this specific Defender 110 presents a transparent and honest ownership profile. With 78,000 km on the clock, it has been driven exactly as a modern Land Rover is intended to be—navigating the expansive highway networks that connect the Emirates. This mileage reflects a vehicle that has not sat idle in a garage, which is often better for the air suspension and rubber seals in the harsh GCC climate where inactivity can lead to heat-related deterioration. The deep black paintwork remains a premium choice for this model, offering a stealthy aesthetic that is highly coveted by local buyers and typically commands a faster sale than more unconventional colors. Compared to other units from the same year that may have been imported, this GCC-spec example provides peace of mind regarding the cooling system's capacity and the official service history records at authorized regional centers.

SE P300 vs Lower Trims

Stepping up to the SE trim significantly enhances the daily driving experience over the base S models by introducing several features that are considered essentials rather than luxuries in our region. This trim includes the superior Premium LED headlights with Signature DRLs, which provide much better visibility during night drives through unlit desert roads. Inside, the SE cabin is upgraded with the high-output Meridian Sound System, a critical feature for those who spend significant time commuting between cities like Abu Dhabi and Dubai. You also benefit from the 12-way electric memory seats, allowing for precise adjustments that are saved for multiple drivers—a convenience often missed in lower specifications. Furthermore, the SE P300 often includes the ClearSight interior rearview mirror and the Blind Spot Assist pack as standard, features that many base models require as expensive optional extras.

Defender 110 vs Segment Rivals

The Land Rover Defender 110 occupies a unique space where it is frequently cross-shopped against the Mercedes-Benz G-Class and the Toyota Land Cruiser 300. While the G-Class is often viewed through a luxury lens, the Defender provides a more modern, unibody driving experience that offers superior on-road handling and high-speed stability on the E11 highway. Compared to the Land Cruiser, the Defender offers a more tech-focused cabin and a distinct European design language that feels more at home in premium urban settings like Downtown Dubai or West Bay. It leads the segment in terms of wading depth and sophisticated off-road electronics, utilizing the Terrain Response system to make desert driving accessible even to novices. The 300 hp 4-cylinder engine is also a clever choice, offering similar torque to older V6 rivals while maintaining a lighter front end for better steering precision.

Running Costs & Resale

Owning a Land Rover in the GCC is supported by an extensive network of authorized service centers including Al Tayer Motors and Euro Motors, ensuring parts and expertise are always within reach. The P300 engine is designed to run efficiently on 95 or 98 octane petrol, which is readily available at every station across the region. Real-world fuel consumption is impressive for a vehicle of this size, achieving roughly 10-12 L/100km on long highway stretches, though this will increase in heavy metropolitan traffic. Historically, the Defender 110 has shown some of the strongest resale values in the European SUV segment in the UAE, with 3-year value retention significantly outperforming its predecessors. Depreciation typically tracks at around 12-15% annually, which is highly competitive for a premium vehicle. Given the high demand for the new generation Defender, well-maintained GCC-spec units continue to be a liquid asset in the used car market.

Performance & Capability

The P300 powertrain is the headline here, delivering 300 hp and 400 Nm of torque, which allows this large SUV to reach 100 km/h in just over 7 seconds. This performance is more than adequate for merging into fast-moving traffic or overtaking on the highway. For weekend enthusiasts, the genuine all-wheel-drive system and twin-speed transfer box mean this car is fully equipped for sand dune bashing or exploring the rocky wadis of the Northern Emirates. With a ground clearance of up to 291 mm when equipped with air suspension, it clears obstacles that would stop most other luxury crossovers in their tracks. The towing capacity is equally impressive, rated at 3,500 kg, making it easy to haul jet skis or horse trailers. Whether you are navigating a flooded street after a rainstorm or climbing a steep dune, the performance is delivered with a sense of calm and composure.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior of the Defender 110 is a masterclass in 'industrial luxury,' featuring durable materials that are perfectly suited to the dust and sand of the GCC. This 5-seater configuration provides massive boot space and exceptional second-row legroom, making it a perfect family vehicle for long road trips across the border to Oman or Saudi Arabia. The air conditioning system is specifically tuned for the region, with powerful blowers and rear-seat vents that ensure all passengers stay cool even when the external temperature hits 48°C. The Pivi Pro infotainment system is intuitive and stays connected via a large, crisp touchscreen that handles navigation across the Emirates with ease. Cabin insulation is remarkably high, keeping wind noise to a minimum during high-speed cruising, while the seating position provides a commanding 'command' view of the road that builds confidence in heavy traffic.

Safety

Safety is a paramount feature of the Defender 110, which carries a full 5-Star NCAP rating. This SE trim is packed with active safety technologies including Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist, and a 3D Surround Camera system that is invaluable for parking in tight mall spaces. The Rear Traffic Monitor and Clear Exit Monitor are particularly useful in busy urban environments, preventing accidents before they happen. For the highway, the Driver Condition Monitor watches for signs of fatigue during long stretches of desert driving, while the Wade Sensing technology provides real-time depth information when crossing water. It also features a comprehensive suite of airbags and a reinforced body structure designed to protect the cabin in the event of a roll-over, providing total peace of mind for family buyers.

The bottom line

This 2023 Defender 110 SE P300 is the perfect match for a professional or family looking for the prestige of a Land Rover combined with the reliability of a GCC-spec vehicle. It represents a smart buy for someone who wants the latest automotive technology and iconic styling without the steep initial depreciation of a brand-new showroom car.
