Could the Mercedes-AMG GT R lose its roof?

Earlier in the year, a famous German brand launched the beastly Mercedes-AMG GT R. Which by the way is an absolute machine and is more than ready to rip up the road if you take your eyes off of it for even a split second.

The arrival of the coupe is certainly a day we are waiting for and with the standard AMG GT losing its roof in favour of a soft-top convertible one, could the Mercedes-AMG GT R lose its head as well somewhere along the line?

Although the vehicle doesn’t show up on any of the Mercedes-Benz timelines nor did the coupe version create a frenzy at the recent 2016 LA auto show, chief of Mercedes-AMG Tobias Boers spoke of a convertible model being a possibility and that they are scanning the market if it will allow for such a model.

Of course, such a vehicle as the Mercedes-AMG GT R roadster would be a welcome addition to the streets of the world. With its 4-litre V8 petrol motor generating a respectable 550 horsepower if not more, the roadster will no doubt utilise the same engine, and we estimate it will run 0-100 km/h in a mere 3.7 seconds.

Slightly slower than the fixed-roof model, but that’s understandable due to extra weight added to the chassis to strengthen the entire unit up.

While we are all still waiting for the epic Mercedes-AMG GT R to hit Shaikh Zayed Road, we’ve got new Mercedes-Benz AMG GT and used Mercedes-Benz AMG GT for sale in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
